Manchester United have announced the signing of Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A side Atalanta for a fee of around €75 million plus €10 million in add-ons.

The 20-year-old joins the 13-time Premier League winners on a five-year deal with an option for a further year with the move subject to international clearance.

Rasmus, who was unveiled in front of a packed Old Trafford during United’s pre-season friendly against French side RC Lens on Saturday, revealed he has always been a boyhood fan of the Red Devils.

“It is no secret that I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy, and I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player,” Hojlund said.

“I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn that dream into a reality, and I am determined to repay the faith that the club has shown in me. It is still early in my career, but I know that I am ready to make this step up and play with this group of world-class players.

“Once I had spoken to the manager, I knew that this environment would be perfect for my development. I am relishing the opportunity to work with one of the best coaches in the world. Under his guidance and support, I know that I am capable of achieving great things together with my new team-mates at this special club.”

The Danish forward, who joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz on a five-year deal last summer, scored ten goals and provided four assists for the Italian side in 34 matches in just one season.

A full Denmark international, the pacey finisher boasts of six goals in six matches for the senior team since he made his debut in September 2022.

Hojlund brings pace and an eye for goal to a United side that lacked a proper marksman last season and with Marcus Rashford scoring 30 goals last campaign, the side are provided with another forward who can get on the end of the brilliant supplies from Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and summer signing Mason Mount.
