We Will Build On The Positives – Troost Ekong
Super Eagles defender William Troost Ekong says the team is taking a lot of positives away from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations despite losing to Cote D’Ivoire in Sunday’s final at the Alassane Ouatarra stadium.
Ekong who shone like a million star at the tournament was named the Most Valuable Player by the Confederation of African Football CAF.
The Netherlands born central defender after the game last night said although the team is disappointed with the defeat, but harped on the fact that it wasn’t a poor outing.
“Yes we wanted to win, everyone in the team, but it turned the other way round and we have definitely learnt a whole lot of things, the atmosphere was tensed, we didn’t capitulate initially, but the moment we conceded it became more difficult”.
“The second spot isn’t bad, although we wanted more, but definitely it’s not a poor outing, so we can build on this in subsequent engagement”.
