Pre-Afcon- Zimbabwe vs. Sudan ends in a stalemate, with two players injured
It ended goalless in a friendly match between the Warriors and the Falcons of Jedaine. Two Zimbabwean players had injuries during the game.
The Warriors have begun full training ahead of the 2021 CAF Africa cup of nations, which kicks off on January 9 at Cameroon. They started their training upon arriving in Yaoundé, where they camp to prepare for the tournament.
On Sunday, the Southern Africans played Sudan in a friendly game in preparation for the biannual Africa showpiece. The match took place at the Venue Rain Forest International School Stadium, Yaoundé, and it ended in a goalless draw between the two teams.
The Zimbabwe coach, Mapeza, says though that was not the result they anticipated, there are some positives to take away from the match.
Mapeza was pleased with the way his team played. However, they need to improve on their attack and be more clinical- the 49-year old said.
During the match, Kudakwashe Mahachi got injured and was replaced with the Supersport defender, Onismor Bhasera.
There were fears that the injury could rule him out of the tournament. However, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has released a statement that the midfielder will shake up the thigh injury within three days.

Petros Mhari also limped off during the game, but the Coach said no cause for alarm, he just need to rest for a day or more, he will be fine.
Key players like Brendan Galloway, Marshall Munetsi, and Marvelous Nakamba could not feature in this tournament because of injuries. So, this news is a huge sigh of relief for the Warriors that are aiming to qualify to the next round for the first time in their history.
Zimbabwe is in Group B with Senegal, Malawi, and Guinea. The Warriors will open their Afcon campaign against Senegal on 10 January.
