‘One of the nicest people in the world’ – Football world reacts to Christian Atsu’s death
Christian Atsu has been confirmed dead after he was pulled out lifeless from the rubble in the earthquake that has devastated parts of Turkey.
The Ghanaian was found dead under the building where he lived following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Southern Turkey and Northern Syria on February 6 and has so far killed more than 45,000 people.
The football world has taken to social media to react to the sad news.
I ask that whilst we make the necessary arrangements, that everyone would please respect the privacy of the family during this very difficult time.

Atsu had scored a late goal for his club side Hatayspor the day before in a 1-0 win over Kasimpasa. According to reports, Atsu was to fly out of the city hours before the earthquake but opted to stay with the team.
Earlier reports suggested Atsu had been pulled out of the rubble but proved not to be true. Hatayspor have announced his body will be flown to Ghana to be buried.
