This will be the third time the Stallions and the Panthers will be meeting at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations. However, their two previous encounters were in the group phase when Gabon defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 in 2015 and played a 1-1 draw in 2017.
Since Gabon 2-0 win over Burkina Faso in 2015, they have gone to play more 7 AFCON matches without winning a game- draw 5, loss 2. However, The Panthers are unbeaten in their last six AFCON games- one win and 5 draws.
