WAFCON 2022: CAF unveils official mascot and official ball for tournament
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a lioness called Titrit as the official mascot for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The name “Titrit” was coined by an indigenous group called Berber in Morocco which means “star”.
The mascot is dressed in the official colours of the North African country, wearing modern-day jewellery synonymous with the country.
Titrit also showed her readiness to contribute to Africa’s topmost women’s football competition by wearing her football boots. Her raised fist is described to be for tenacity and determination.
For the competition that starts from July 2 to July 23 with 12 teams, CAF joined their technical sponsor, Umbro to launch the official competition ball.
The colourful ball represents progress, unity, challenge, initiative, diversity and experience in the growth of African women’s football.
The ball boasts of colour blue, white, purple, red, green, pink, yellow and black.
