Lionel Messi was the recipient of the FIFA Best Men’s Award in Paris on Monday, beating club teammate Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid captain and 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema to the honour.

The 35-year-old won his seventh “FIFA The Best” award with his most recent triumph in 2019, adding to his growing list of  impressive individual accolades, which currently counts at 77.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward became the first player to win The Best FIFA Men’s Player award in three different decades – winning one in the 2000s, five in the 2010s and one again in the 2020s.

Fans and football experts all over the world took to social media to inundate the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner with praise, with many tagging him as the “Greatest Of All Time,”  to the despair of his longtime archrival Cristiano Ronaldo and his fans.
