Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa reacts to criticism on latest call up

Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa has taken to social media to react to criticism against his inclusion in the latest Super Eagles squad that will take on Sierra Leone in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next Sunday.

The 30-year-old has been a constant face in the national team despite not having significant game time since he became the country’s most capped player in 2021.

Nigerian fans are displeased with Musa’s consistent call ups as they view it as a waste of space in the team which some think should be given to other bright talents such as Gift Orban, Victor Boniface and Terem Moffi that were all left out of the squad.

There is also displeasure with Musa’s involvement in the national team owing to his age which some believe is not true and is much older than the age of 30 that he officially declares.

The former Leicester City man has however responded to his critics on Twitter with a message which read:

“Like me or hate me, a day will come that you will tell your kids a story about Ahmed Musa MO.”

Musa currently plays for Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig. He joined from fellow Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk last summer and has played 20 times in the league, although only four have been starts while he has been brought on from the bench on 16 occasions and has no goal or assist to his name.

He has also featured in the Turkish Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League a combined seven times.
