Salisu, Shorounmu return as Super Eagles coaches

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has confirmed Salisu Yusuf as the first assistant coach of the Super Eagles while ex-international Ike Shorounmu replaces Alloy Agu as the Goalkeepers’ coach.

Their appointments were confirmed on Wednesday, with Enyimba coach Finidi George and Usman Abdallah the second and third assistant coaches respectively.

Shorounmu is set for his third spell as the country’s goalkeeper trainer, after stints between 2005-2007 and 2011-2015.

The NFF disclosed that the quartet will assist the new head coach that will succeed Austin Eguavoen in due course after contract signing.

Salisu who worked under Gernot Rohr, is also tasked to head the country’s home-based team (Super Eagles B) and he will be supported by Kennedy Boboye (assistant coach), Fatai Osho (assistant coach), Abubakar Bala Mohammed (assistant coach), Fidelis Ikechukwu (assistant coach), Shorounmu (goalkeepers’ trainer) and Suleiman Shuaibu (goalkeepers’ trainer 2).

For the U20 set-up, Ladan Bosso retains his head coach position and he will work with former U17 coach, Fatai Amoo (assistant coach), Oladuni Oyekale (assistant coach), Jolomi Atune Alli (assistant coach) and Baruwa Olatunji Abideen (goalkeepers’ trainer).

Meanwhile, Nduka Ugbade has been tasked with the Golden Eaglets’ affairs with Ahmad Lawal Dankoli, Omoniyi Haruna Ilerika, Yemi Daniel and Mohammed Isah to work as assistants.
