Sadio Mane: Remembering Senegal star’s magical moments at Liverpool

Sadio Mane ended his six-year at Liverpool on Wednesday after completing a permanent to German Bundesliga club, Bayern Munich.

Mane left Anfield on a high note after winning the FA Cup and the League Cup titles last season and also played a key role in helping Jurgen Klopp’s men to a narrow second-place finish in the Premier League and they .ended the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League campaign as runners-up.

During his stay at the Merseyside, the 2019 African Footballer of the Year scored 120 goals and delivered 38 assists in 269 appearances across all competitions for the club.

 

FIRST CHAMPIONS LEAGUE HAT-TRICK

Mane scored his first and only Champions League hat-trick for Liverpool in their 5-0 thrashing of Porto in February 2018.

The game was Mane’s first outing in a knockout fixture of a European tournament.

 

CENTURY OF GOALS

The Senegal forward scored his 100th goal for the Reds in a Premier League game against Crystal Palace in September 2021.

Mane opened the scoring for Jurgen Klopp’s men in their 3-0 win, courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita.

He also became the third African player to reach a century of Premier League goals a month later against Watford.

 

MAGICAL END TO 2018-19 SEASON

The 30-year-old scored two goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the 2018-19 Premier League season to share the Golden Boot award with Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick.

The record of 22 goals in 36 matches is Mane’s best goal tally in a single league campaign.

 

SUPER CUP HEROICS IN ISTANBUL

Mane spurred Liverpool to lift the UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul after scoring the two goals in their 2-2 draw against Chelsea at the end of extra-time.

He found the back of the net in the 45th and 95th minutes, and he was later honoured with the Man of the Match award.

 

MOMENTOUS LIVERPOOL DEBUT

Following his switch from Southampton in June 2016, Mane hit the ground running with his maiden goal on his Premier League debut against Arsenal.

The former RB Salzburg and Metz star scored the match-winning goal that helped the Reds win a seven-goal thriller at the Emirates Stadium on August 14.
