Ronaldo apologises for smashing fan’s phone after Man Utd loss
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has apologised for smashing a fan’s phone after their 1-0 defeat to Everton in Saturday’s Premier League encounter.
Anthony Gordon’s deflected shot in the 27th minute separated the two teams at the Goodison Park which left the Red Devils unmoved in the seventh spot.
Just as Ronaldo was walking down the tunnel with his teammates after the game, a fan tried to get a selfie with him but the five-time Ballon d’Or winner responded by smashing the phone on the floor.
Ronaldo’s behaviour has been condemned by fans across the world and he has taken a bold step to apologise for his action.
He also invited the fan for a match at Old Trafford.
“It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
“Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.
“I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.”
