Ready to roll! Nigeria will go for victory against Sudan- Eguavoen
Super Eagles of Nigeria and Sudan’s Jediane Falcons will meet today Saturday in their second round match of Group D of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles enter the match on top after defeating Egypt 1-0, while Sudan’s Jediane Falcons have one point from a goalless draw with Guinea-Bissau.
A wín for Nigeria over Sudan will ensure their qualification to the round of 16 early.
Coach Augustine Eguavoen has said the Eagles are focused on winning against Sudan.
“I am not thinking about anything else or how we will start our third match. We are completely focused on our match against Sudan. Beating Egypt was not easy, and we are looking forward to continuing our victories and qualifying for the next round,”he said.
Meanwhile, Sudan coach, Burhan Tiya, has said that the Sudanese face a great team with high-level stars in Nigeria, “but we will play with a balance between defense and attack. The absence of Mohamed Abdel Rahman is impressive, but we have a number of young players waiting for an opportunity to appear.”
