‘Na Saudi Arabia go top this group’ – Fans react to epic comeback win against Argentina
Social media has been sent into a frenzy after Saudi Arabia secured a 2-1 win over Argentina in their 2022 FIFA World Cup Group C opener on Tuesday.
It was a game the Albiceleste were expected to win with ease as they were clear favourites not just for the match, but also one of those primed to win the tournament as Copa America champions.
The South American giants took the lead in the first-half courtesy of a fine penalty from Lionel Messi. They had more chances to extend their lead but three goals were ruled out for offside.
Despite the deficit, the Saudis still managed to show determination in the first-half by playing a high line and it paid off for them in the second half after goals from Saleh Al-Shehri and Salem Al-Dawsari in the space of five minutes.
