Mourinho unsure of Roma future after Europa League final loss
AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho says he is not certain if he will remain at the Stadio Olimpico next season after the Giallorossi lost 4-1 on penalties to Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday night.
The Portuguese tactician was gunning to become the first manager to lift five European titles but was denied after defenders Gianluca Mancini and Roger Ibanez lost their penalties during the shootout after the game in Budapest ended 1-1 after extra time. It was also Mourinho’s first loss in a European final.
Mourinho stated he would speak with the club hierarchy as he prepares to go on holiday for the summer break.
“I can’t say I will be here next season,” the former Chelsea manager said.
“I will go on holiday on Monday, then we will speak. I told the owners I will tell them if I start talks with another club. As of now no other club called me. It is time for me to talk to the owners. It is time for the owners to talk to me.”
Mourinho has been rumoured to be in contention to be the next manager at Paris Saint-Germain though Christophe Galtier is still in charge.
