Super Eagles winger Moses Simon scored his first goal for the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season in Nantes’ 1-1 draw with Lille on Friday night.

Simon opened the scoring for the Canaries in the 28th minute, following a through ball from Andrei Girotto and he settled for a cool finish past Lille goalkeeper.

The first-half lead separated the two teams for the majority of the encounter until Ismaily scored a 76th-minute equaliser for Lille.

Simon played the entire 90 minutes for Nantes as both teams settled for a share of the spoils.

A umber of African players were also in action at Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau with Cameroon’s Jean-Charles Castelletto, DR Congo’s Samuel Moutoussamy and Egypt’s Mostafa Mohamed on parade for Nantes while Guinea’s Mohamed Bayo and Algeria’s Akim Zedadka played for the visitors.

After settling for back-to-back draws in their first two league games of the season, Simon will be focused on guiding Nantes to victory against Marseille on August 20.
