Edouard Mendy was in exceptional form in Senegal’s commanding 3-1 win against Qatar at the Al Thumama Stadium.
The Chelsea goalkeeper redeemed himself with a series of breathtaking saves following well-deserved criticisms for his atrocious performance in the Teranga Lions’ 2-0 loss to the Netherlands on Monday.
Social media is awash with praise for the 30-year-old’s world-class save off Ismail Mohamad’s deflected header in the 67th minute to keep the hosts scoreless.
Albeit Senegal conceded a Mohammed Muntari header in the 78th minute, Mendy’s name spread like wildfire across the stadium as fans sang his praise in appreciation of his performance, marking Senegal and Africa’s first win in Qatar.
