Manchester United bid Paul Pogba farewell

Premier League club Manchester United have announced that Paul Pogba will leave the club at the end of his contract in June.

The 29-year-old returned to Old Trafford for a second stint in 2016 after starting his professional career at the club in 2011.

Although his 2021-22 season came to an abrupt end in April because of a calf injury, Pogba played in 27 games across all competitions with a goal against Burnley to his name in February.

His next destination is unknown but Pogba leaves Manchester on a high after making over 200 appearances and he won the UEFA Europa League and the League Cup during his second spell.

“It was a low-key end to a United career that had brought so many individual high moments, so many beautiful goals, assists and pieces of skill,” the club statement read.

“But for a boy that joined the Academy at 16 to make over 200 United appearances and lift the Youth Cup, along with two major pieces of silverware – not to mention the World Cup at international level – is something that should be applauded and celebrated.
“Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.
“We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey.”
