Man Utd’s Andre Onana wins Premier League’s September save of the month award

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has won the Premier League Save of the Month award for September, the league revealed on Friday.

The Cameroon international received the honour for a second time thanks to his double save in United’s goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Onana initially saved a low strike from Eddie Nketiah, but the ball inadvertently fell into the path of Ismaila Sarr, whose rebound attempt was superbly thwarted away by the United goalie with a sublime reaction save to keep the score deadlock.

The 28-year-old has evidently turned a new leaf, consistently delivering top-class performances for the Red Devils, a huge contrast from the 2023-24 season, his first with the Old Trafford outfit.

The Cameroonian previously won the award in April with a world-class save to deny Burnley’s South African forward Lyle Foster.

Onana has accrued four Premier League clean sheets this season, the most of any goalkeepers currently this campaign.

He dethrones Arsenal’s David Raya, who won the award in August, for denying Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins’s effort.
