Man Utd handed Varane boost for Premier League run-in

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Raphael Varane is available for the Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The French defender has been out with a foot injury since the Europa League quarter-final first leg 2-2 draw with Sevilla, missing seven games.

Varane’s absence, added to Lisandro Martinez being ruled out for the rest of the season with a fractured foot, has coincided with a drop in form for United with the club in danger of missing out on the top four with only four matches left to play.

Ten Hag also revealed that top scorer this season, Marcus Rashford, will not be available for the game.

“Raphael Varane is back, Marcus Rashford is doubtful – he has a problem, an injury to his leg and is a big question for tomorrow. He’s doubtful, more than doubtful, so a big question mark,” the former Ajax manager said ahead of the game.

Ten Hag further stated on Varane’s return: “He has experience, he knows how to win and will guide us.”

Man United currently sit fourth in the Premier League standings with a game in hand, one point clear of fierce rivals Liverpool.
