High profile Equatorial Guinea players like Jesus Owono, Deportivo Alaves, Dorian Hanza, Langreo, Basilio Ndong, Start are named in the Equatorial Guinea Afcon squad.
The Nzalang are coming to Cameroon with all the weapons in their arsenal, to win the Afcon tournament for the first time. The squad includes Equatorial Guinea stars like Deportivo Alaves’s Jesus Owono, Dorian Hanza of Langreo, Spain, Alaves Balboa of Deportivo Alaves, and Basilio Ndong of Start, Norway.
The squad also includes Jose Machin who plays for Monza in Italy, France based Santiago Eneme, and Pablo Ganet, Real Murcia, Spain. The majority of the players are based in France and Greece. The Equatorial Guinea coach also includes six home-based players.
Equatorial Guinea is appearing for the third at the Africa nations cup, with their best performance coming in 2015, a fourth-place finish. Since then, they have been unable to qualify for Afcon until 2021.
In Cameroon 2021, the national thunder is in the same group alongside Algeria, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast. They will start their Afcon campaign against the Ivory Coast on January 12. Thereafter, they will take on the reigning champions, Algeria on January 16 before battling Sierra Leone on January 20.
