Iheanacho scores first goal of the season in Leicester City’s humiliating loss
Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho scored his Premier League goal of the season on Sunday as Brighton & Hove Albion humbled Leicester City 5-2.
It took less than a minute for Iheanacho to make a statement on his first league start for the Foxes this campaign as he converted a pass from Zambia’s Patson Daka to the back of the net.
Brighton, however, responded immediately with an own goal from Luke Thomas and Moises Caicedo in the 10th and 15th minutes respectively.
In the 33rd minute, Daka restored parity for Leicester City as both teams headed into the break on level terms.
Brighton returned for the second 45 minutes with much confidence and attacking pressure which paid off in the 64th minute as Leandro Trossard fired them in front again.
After seeing his initial stunning goal ruled out by VAR, Alexis Mac Allister got on the scoresheet by slotting home from the penalty spot in the 71st minute and deep into injury time, he added his second goal in the game.
The defeat compounded Leicester City’s Premier League woes having lost their last five games. Their only point so far came in a 2-2 draw against Brentford on August 7 and they sit at the bottom of the table
