Ibenge talks up Caf Confederation Cup clash against Al Masry
RS Berkane coach Florent Ibenge believes their Caf Confederation Cup quarter-final clash against Al Masry will be decided by the second leg result in Morocco.
RS Berkane were paired against the Egyptian outfit after securing a last-minute win over Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas and they finished at the top of Group D, level on 10 points with Simba SC.
With the first leg fixture against Al Masry scheduled for Borg El Arab Stadium on Sunday, the former DR Congo coach is anticipating a difficult encounter but he insists that they can advance into the last-four stage of the competition.
“It’s a tough game ahead of us. It’s an African Cup quarter-final match. Obviously, we inherited the representative of the Egyptian championship. It will not be an easy match,” Ibenge told CAF’s website.
“When we come out of the group stage as we did in the last minutes, we don’t want to stop there. We want to fight with all our weapons to reach the semi-finals. The goal is to be in the semi-finals.
“Everything will surely happen in the return match at home. So we will have to not overuse the first leg by playing all our chances.”
RS Berkane won the Confederation Cup for the first time in their history in the 2019-20 season after beating Egypt’s Pyramids 1-0 in Morocco.
