How fans reacted to Graham Potter’s sack at Chelsea
Graham Potter has been relieved of his duties as Chelsea manager following the Blues’ 2-0 loss at home to Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Blues have been in poor form for much of the ex-Brighton man’s stint at Stamford Bridge with 12 wins, eight draws and 10 defeats from 31 competitive games, scoring 33 goals and conceding 31 goals.
The defeat to Aston Villa was however the final straw as it dropped Chelsea out of the top half of the table down to 11th which clearly was not good enough for the club hierarchy.
Chelsea supporters were generally pleased with Potter’s dismissal, many believing he was not good enough to manage such a big club, comparing him with former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was dismissed after a poor run of results last season.

I feel for Graham Potter, but it was inevitable. You don’t change Tuchel for Potter. Ridiculous decision to start with. https://t.co/twZpL1D23H

It cost Chelsea £21m to buy out Graham Potter’s contract from Brighton and £60m to sack him. An appointment that will go down in football history. pic.twitter.com/ALXWVS5NZm

I like Potter but I found his behaviour at Chelsea very strange. You're at a big club where you have no history & you're not a big name manager yet even through a terrible run of form, you act as if results don't matter & remain so aloof & detached.People have to FEEL you care.

Always sad when anyone loses their job, I like Graham Potter who comes across as a pleasant person & a good manager. But the Chelsea job just came to soon for him & when he was appointed it felt it was to soon for him. pic.twitter.com/n0GWGwfeU7

We are going to court. This is unfair on Potter.
In the quarterfinals of the Champions League, leading the second page of the table & a family to feed & you just sack him on Sunday when bank network won't work? 🤪

They gave Potter every chance to turn things round, then swallowed their pride and were able to sack him without having to give a full payout.
Time to put some respect on Todd Bohely and Behdad Eghbali. pic.twitter.com/N7zuMT6m9L

I think the limit for many people was the loss to Southampton at home, so the fact Graham Potter stayed in the job until today, I think, actually shows we did all have some level of patience.
Yesterday was too much to stomach and a step too far, hence the backlash. Graham is… pic.twitter.com/Lm74xlc4qZ

Bit more on Graham Potter's sacking. Line in the statement on a "smooth transition" is a reference to the parting being amicable (as much as a sacking can be) and some of Potter's staff remaining on, at least until a permanent manager is appointed. pic.twitter.com/c6IP0WU855

Potter gave me high blood pressure! The Doctor took the reading and said, "its rather high. Everything okay at home?".
I said no.
Where's your home he asked?
Stamford Bridge, I replied.
He fell off his chair quaking in laughter. https://t.co/R3tJ3EV15k— Frank Edoho (@frankedoho) April 2, 2023
The decision to sack Graham Potter was fast-moving, but in the end unanimous. It was led by Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart. There will now be an exhaustive search for a replacement. Nothing is imminent at this point. pic.twitter.com/d9ngEGf1i9

Graham Potter reminds me of Ole, seems like a genuinely great guy but the job was too big for him, arguably the worst manager we’ve had in over 20 years.

Potter couldn’t have asked for more time to at least try and implement some sort of idea of his football at Chelsea.
The break during the Queen’s death, the World Cup break, getting knocked out of both domestic cup competitions at the first time of asking, another international…

Graham Potter is a nice guy and I hoped he’d make a success of it at #CFC for his sake. But quickly became clear he wasn’t going to. Successful Chelsea coaches have always had an aura about them…Potter just didn’t have it sadly.
