Hope in Lampard fades as Chelsea lose to Real Madrid

247views

Chelsea’s woes continued under interim manager Frank Lampard as the Blues lost 2-0 with 10 men to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday night.

The 44-year-old’s first game on his second managerial return to Stamford Bridge ended in defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend and was no different against the reigning champions at the Santiago Bernabeu as Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio found the back of the net, while Ben Chilwell was given a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Rodrygo.

The result leaves Chelsea with a mountain to climb in the return leg next Tuesday and fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on another bad day in the office for the Blues, with many believing there is no room for improvement this season again.
