Haaland: Winning treble with Manchester City is my biggest dream
Erling Haaland has stated that winning the treble with Manchester City would be his biggest dream as the quest continues when the Citizens tackle Manchester United in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
City have already clinched the Premier League and are also gunning to win the UEFA Champions League for the first time when they take on Inter Milan in Istanbul next Saturday.
United are the only English team to have won the treble, doing so during the 1998-99 season, and Haaland revealed he was purchased from Borussia Dortmund last summer for the purpose of matching that record.
“It would be unreal to make this history,” Haaland said.
“This is why they bought me of course, to get this, we don’t have to hide that.
“It would mean everything. I will do everything I possibly can to try to make it happen. It’s my biggest dream and hopefully dreams do come true.
“But as well it’s not easy – it’s two finals against two good teams that will do everything they can to try to destroy that.
“They [Man United] will be motivated, they will be ready and we have to play at our best, because if we play at our best we have a really good chance of achieving exactly that.”
Haaland has already bagged the Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers Association (FWA) Player of the Year award. He also won the Premier League Golden Boot after netting 36 goals, the most goals in a season since the top-flight’s formation in 1992.
