FIFA Ranking: Senegal lead Africa but Nigeria, Cameroon and Egypt drop

Following the latest international break, the world football governing FIFA has updated its ranking of countries based on recent performances in June.

2021 Africa Cup of Nations champions, Senegal remain the best footballing nation in Africa and they occupy the 18th spot in the global standing, followed by Morocco and Tunisia in the 22nd and 30th spots.

Nigeria dropped from their 30th position in the world in March ranking to 31st and they are now the fourth-best country on the continent.

Cameroon also dropped by a place from 37th to 38th in the world while Egypt suffered a great fall from 32nd in the world to the 40th position.

Algeria, Mali, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso complete the top 10 countries in Africa.

The Democratic Republic of Congo dropped the most points on the continent (-32.23) after suffering back-to-defeats in their first two qualifying fixtures for the AFCON 2023 while Egypt and Benin are the next biggest losers with -18.04 points and -21.64 points respectively.

Globally, Brazil are undisputed as the best country in the no. 1 spot followed by Belgium as second and Argentina in the third position.
