Fans praise Awoniyi’s star display against Chelsea
Football fans have taken to social media to praise Taiwo Awoniyi after he scored a brace in Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Chelsea.
The Nigerian forward came into the game off the back of another brace in a 4-3 win over Southampton and gave Forest the lead at Stamford Bridge in the first half.
Chelsea responded in the second half through Raheem Sterling’s brace but the lead was shortlived as Awoniyi equalised for Forest to take him to five goal involvements (four goals, one assist) in Forest’s last four games, and eight goals overall this season.
Fans hailed Awoniyi for showing his quality after recently coming back from more than two months out due to a groin injury.
Awoniyi’s goals have come at a crucial time Forest are aiming to avoid relegation with just two points keeping them away and two matches left to play.
Back-to-back brace for Taiwo Awoniyi.
The LION in the relegation jungle 🔥🇳🇬

I'm happy for Taiwo Awoniyi. Eight goals this season in the Prem in spite of his injury bits. I hope he can get to double figures to crown it up.

Had Taiwo Awoniyi been fit throughout the season I honestly think we’d have been home and dry by now. A great “never say die performance today at Chelsea and a well deserved point. Seven points from our last five games, looking more healthy but not over yet. COYR #nffc pic.twitter.com/224gRcHsR5

Two more goals for Taiwo Awoniyi to take his season tally to 9 in all competitions, 8 PL.
Not bad for a debut season disrupted by a serious groin injury. pic.twitter.com/LV0w2VDCFE

I have never seen a striker literally bully Thiago Silva like Taiwo Awoniyi is doing to him now. Really strong play from the Nigerian forward. #CFC

I know recency bias will dilute people’s perception of Taiwo Awoniyi but honestly, I’d take him at United.
His versatility has gone under the radar, given how this season has gone. But his time at Union is enough evidence of his ability to seamlessly switch between roles.

From being Union Berlin's record scorer in a #Bundesliga season to being one of Nottingham Forest's most prized assets, Taiwo Awoniyi is leading the charge for survival at Forest.
A brace in each of the past two matches is no fluke for the Super Eagles striker.#CHENOT pic.twitter.com/ghPbg87188
