Formula 1 have released the calendar for the 2024 F1 season subject to approval from the F1 commission. It will be a record 24-race season starting with two Saturday night races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia on March 2 and 9 respectively, followed by the Australian Grand Prix on March 24.

The Chinese Grand Prix will be back for the first time since 2019 on April 21 as the fifth race of the season.

The Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix have been shifted forward by 24 hours due to the Islamic month of Ramadan which begins on March 10 to ensure freight logistics are met.

The season will end with the usual Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 8.

The 2024 calendar marks a step by F1 to make the schedule more regionalised in a bid to reduce freight logistics and make them more sustainable.

“This calendar creates a better flow of races in certain regions, and this work will continue while being realistic to the fact that as a world championship, with climatic and contractual constraints, there will always be travel required that cannot be completely regionalised,” read a statement on the F1 website.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicalli also commented on the calendar: “There is huge interest and continued demand for Formula 1, and I believe this calendar strikes the right balance between traditional races and new and existing venues.”

The ongoing 2023 season will head for the 10th race at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone this weekend.
