EPL: Southampton too strong for Brentford
Southampton eased their way to a victory against Brentford in the first top-flight meeting between the sides by thrashing Brentford 4 – 1 at St. Mary’s. The match was originally postponed because of a Covid-19 outbreak at the Bees, but the Saints, who came out flying right from the start, go on to take all three points that moves them to 11th on the log.
Brentford conceded as early as the 5th minute. They were able to equalize, but they were poor defensively for the rest of the match to suffer their biggest defeat of the season, which dropped them to 13th in the standings.
While Everton and Leicester had their match postponed, there’s still more action to come tonight as West Ham take on Norwich City.
Manchester City sit pretty at the top of the Premier League, ten points ahead of second-placed Chelsea. Liverpool are in third a further point back, while Arsenal round out the top 4.
In the relegation spots, it is Burnley, Newcastle United and Norwich who are in trouble.
