EPL: Man City go 13 points clear after edging Chelsea 1-0
The Premier League started off with a top of the table clash, leaders Manchester City who were 10 points clear came up against second-placed Chelsea.
The highly anticipated encounter got set with an early yellow card for Marcos Alonso after City started to put the pieces together in their attack. City continued with the pressure with not much from The Blues with clear chances hard to come by.
Jack Grealish was in a very good position to score and get the opening goal, the scoreline stayed 0 – 0 however after he was not able to lift the ball well enough and find the back of the net, the half closing with no goals.
Things started like a house on fire in the second half. Both sides had the goals in front of them, the deadlock unbroken but it certainly raised the temperature a little.
The afternoon was turning out to be a game of chances not taken, but a moment of brilliance from Kevin De Bruyne finally sparked celebrations.
City held on for a 1-0 win to move 13 points clear at the top of the standings.
