EPL: It’s victory for the Reds at Anfield

Liverpool had the chance to move from third to second in the Premier League, but they needed a positive result as they hosted Brentford.

Liverpool came very close to breaking the deadlock but with the number of bodies and no clear touch to the ball, it went wide. It was the same result when the Reds pushed forward causing much problems for Brentford, but the ball floated wide.

Alvaro Fernandez’s goal continued to be hounded but he was up for the task when he was called upon.

The Bees could not continue to hold up their wall and finally, they were broken, Fabinho supplying the breakthrough goal. Liverpool with a slender 1-0 lead at the break.

The Reds continued their dominance in possession, Brentford with the odd chance here and there, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got Liverpool’s second at the 69th minute.

Brentford began to lose steam and got sloppy in defense as they conceded a third, Takumi Minamino with the goal to complete the win which took the Reds to second on the log.
