Hakim Ziyech & Thiago Silva were on target as Chelsea saw off Tottenham 2-0, handing Spurs their 1st Premier League defeat under Antonio Conte.

Chelsea keep their title hopes alive by ending Antonio Conte’s unbeaten record since he took charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham were furious at the decision to disallow a Harry Kane goal when the score was 0-0, but Conte offered no excuses and he delivered a sobering message to Tottenham fans and perhaps the board after the game, saying it will take years to catch up with top teams like Chelsea but the investment has to start now.

Chelsea had a chance in the opening minute but Romelu Lukaku couldn’t keep his shot down. Then Mason Mount picked out Callum Hudson Odoi but his header went just wide.

Tottenham’s first attack came from a Harry Winks solo run, his shot was straight at Kepa Arrizabalaga. Mason Mount again picked out Romelu Lukaku some minutes later, but he missed the ball entirely.

Then with halftime looming, Steven Bergwijn played in Ryan Sessegnon who crossed to Harry Kane who finished, but the goal was disallowed for a foul on Thiago Silva.

Two minutes into the second half, Chelsea took the lead, a brilliant strike from Ziyech. Moments later, he struck again, but Lloris pushed it away. Chelsea kept on pushing and on the 55th minute, Thiago Silva doubled their lead. There was a brief delay when an object appeared to be thrown from the away side on Antonio Rudiger. Tottenham had a good spell late on but Harry Kane’s header was straight at Arrizabalaga.

They couldn’t pull one back though and 2-0 was how it ended. This was Chelsea’s third win over Tottenham in January.
