EFA make move for Queiroz replacement
A member of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Ehab El-Komy confirmed that former internationals Ehab Galal, Hossam Hassan and Ahmed Samy have been nominated to become the next Egypt head coach.
The coach position became vacant on Sunday following the termination of Carlos Queiroz’s contract.
El-Komy, on Monday, disclosed that the Egyptian football governing body will meet next Tuesday to deliberate on either appointing a foreign or local coach for the Pharaohs.
“Next Tuesday we’ll have a meeting to discuss whether we’ll go with an Egyptian or a foreign head coach,” El-Komy said via King Fut.
“I believe an Egyptian manager would be better right now, my vote is with an Egyptian manager.
“Egyptian managers nominated for the job are Hossam Hassan, Ehab Galal, and Ahmed Samy. But Galal and Hassan are closer to the job.”
Hassan is Egypt’s all-time top scorer with 83 goals in 176 appearances and he recently managed Egyptian Premier League club Al Ittihad Alexandria.
Galal, meanwhile, who enjoyed his playing career in Egypt as a defender – is in charge of Pyramids.
