Duvan Zapata out for rest of season with serious knee injury
Colombian forward Duvan Zapata will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season after suffering a serious knee injury, Serie A club Torino confirmed on Monday.
The 33-year-old striker has reportedly suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament as well as the medial and lateral meniscus in his left knee.
“The instrumental tests to which Duván Zapata was subjected revealed a lesion of the anterior cruciate ligament, the medial meniscus, and the lateral meniscus,” Torino revealed on their X platform.
“Torino Football Club warmly embraces Duván with the hope of seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

Zapata, Torino’s captain, picked up the injury in their 3-2 defeat to Inter Milan in the Serie A on Saturday, a match in which he scored in the 36th minute before being stretchered off and replaced by Yann Karamoh in the 84th minute.
The forward was wheeled off late in the game at the San Siro after twisting his left knee awkwardly while trying to beat Italian defender Matteo Darmian.
Torino’s medical team attended to the Colombian, who was already crying due to the severity of his injury, before escorting him off the field.
Zapata, who was initially on loan at Torino from Atalanta last season, scoring 12 goals for the Turin club, has found the back of the net four times in nine games in all competitions this campaign, including three goals in Serie A.
