The 20-year-old, who has endured a difficult year having failed to make a Grand Slam final coupled with a third round exit in the Paris 2024 Olympics, will face 15th seed Spaniard Paula Badosa in the last four on Saturday after recording her 45th win of the year.
Gauff will be hoping to progress to her first final since she clinched the title at Auckland in January when she faces Badosa, who cruised past China’s Zhang Shuai 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) in straight sets after one hour and 23 minutes of action.
