Cameroon’s Embiid nominated for NBA MVP award
Philadelphia 76ers’ Cameroonian center, Joel Embiid has been named a finalist for the 2021/2022 NBA Most Valuable Player award after another spectacular season.
Embiid is nominated alongside reigning MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets and two-time MVP and reigning NBA champion, Nigerian-Greek freak Giannis Antetokoumpo of Milwaukee Bucks.
Embiid is seemingly the frontrunner for this year’s award after averaging a league-high 30.6 points per game, making him the first Center since Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal in 1999-2000, to earn the NBA Scoring title for this season.
He is also the first Center to average over 30 points per games since Moses Marlone in the 1981-82 season.
The 28-year-old, born in Yaounde, has been on Philadelphia 76ers books since 2014.
