CAF Awards get July 21 return date

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) annual awards will be making a return next month,  the first time since January 7th, 2020 when the last edition was held in Egypt.

This year’s edition of the prestigious award ceremony for African football, will return on Thursday, July 21 in Morocco.

The CAF Awards will take place just before the Final of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations scheduled for Morocco between 2nd July – 23rd July 2022. The event will also coincide with the two-year anniversary of the launch of the CAF Women’s Football Strategy.

Furthermore, a new award category named “Interclubs Women’s Player of the Year” has been introduced following the successful roll-out of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League in November 2021.

As with previous editions of the awards, there are several categories to be recognised, in addition to the coveted prizes: Player of the Year (Men & Women).

Other categories include Interclub Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Goal of the Year.

The period under review is from September 2021 to June 2022 and votes from captains and coaches of the Member Associations, selected journalists, CAF Technical Study Group and CAF Legends will be assessed to choose winners.
