England forward Bukayo Saka has departed the Three Lions training camp and returned to Arsenal for further assessment on the leg injury he sustained in Thursday’s shocking defeat 2-1 to Greece in the UEFA Nations League.

The 23-year-old was replaced by Chelsea’s Noni Madueke in the 51st minute at Wembley after limping off with an injury and will miss England’s visit to Helsinki to take on Finland on Sunday.

The Three Lions’ interim boss Lee Carsley provided an update on Saka’s injury apparent leg injury after the game.

“He’s been assessed but in the build-up to the first goal you could see he’d felt something in his leg,” Carsley said.

Saka, however, will not be the only absence in Sunday’s matchday squad as Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has also withdrawn from the England squad for personal reasons.

Meanwhile, the other 22-players are expected to make the trip to take on Finland with the hopes of overcoming their recent defeat.

The Three Lions are currently in second place in the Group B2 standings with six points, three behind group leaders Greece after three games.

Saka’s injury is a blow for Arsenal, who are still without team captain Martin Odegaard, as Mikel Arteta’s men will head to the Vitality Stadium next to face play Bournemouth in the Premier League next Saturday.
