Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has promised to get back to the best of his goal scoring form.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a key cog in the Red Devils since he joined from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.

He was renowned for scoring lots of goals and providing lots of assists under previous manager Old Gunnar Solskjaer.

The goals and assists have however seemed to dry up since he was made United captain at start of last season.

Fernandes’ performances have also come under intense scrutiny with United struggling to get results this season and calls made for him to not start matches.

The 30-year-old has taken responsibility for his dip in form and is keen to rediscover the form that made him a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

“As for the club, I want to improve as soon as I get there, and make sure the goals start coming again,” Fernandes told the club website.

“I have to take responsibility for that too, because I’m a midfielder who scores a lot of goals, and over the years, I’ve always been at a very high level in terms of goals and I have to live up to that, with those expectations.

“I also have my own standards, I don’t hold back on that.

“I haven’t scored for the club yet and I hope that as soon as I get there I can score and help the club get back to winning ways and to a good level.”
