Spain and Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has suffered a minor injury setback.

The 17-year-old has reportedly suffered a left hamstring strain following tests that were carried out on the player on his return to Barcelona.

A statement from the Catalan club on Monday read: “Tests carried out this morning on first team player Lamine Yamal have confirmed that he has a left hamstring strain. His return to training will be determined by his recovery time.”

Yamal was replaced by Sergio Gomez in the 93rd minute in Spain’s 1-0 win over Denmark in the UEFA Nations League at the Estadio Nueva Condomina in Murcua on Saturday, and the teenager was pictured limping back to the team bus after the match.

The youngster, who was integral in helping Spain winning the 2024 European Championship in Germany, is statistically the most fouled player in Europe’s top five leagues this season, with 38 in total.

Yamal has played 11 times for Barcelona this season, scoring five goals and providing five assists in all competitions. The teenager has played 17 times for Spain, and has scored three goals and provided nine assists.

He will, however, miss La Roja’s next match against Serbia at the Estadio Nuevo Arcángel in Cordoba on Tuesday.
