Aubameyang has been sent back to Emirates for medical examinations

The 31-year old was infected with the coronavirus in the wake of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang could not participate in the first two AFCON games for Gabon after being diagnosed with covid-19. He was back in training for the game against Ghana, but he was prevented from playing by CAF after medical examinations reveal heart lesions.

Now, the former Arsenal captain has been sent back to Arsenal in the light of these health problems, to assess the condition of the player. This is confirmed by the Gabonese Football Federation (GFF).

Gabonese coach Patrice Neveu also confirmed with Goal that the 2019 joint EPL highest goal scorer has been allowed to travel to London to properly assess his health.

Though Aubameyang was due to play against the Black Stars after testing negative to the virus, he was ruled out of the game after medical examinations reveals further health problems.

The good news is Gabon have been coping without their star. They now have 4 points after two games, and they will be aiming to cap the group phase games with a win against Morocco tomorrow 20.00.
