Alex Iwobi stars as Everton sink Leeds United

The 25-year old produced a spectacular performance, to help the Toffees record three points in their match day 25 fixture against Leeds United.

Nigerian midfielder, Alex Iwobi was in action as Everton thrashed Leeds United 3-0, to stay clear of the drop zone.

Everton are currently in 16th position with 22 points, 5 points away from the relegation zone.

Leeds united are in 15th position, leading Everton by a point having played a game more.

Seamus Coleman netted for the home side after ten minutes before Anthony Gordon set up Micheal Keane to make it 2-0 for Everton in the 23 minute. Gordon also scored the third goal in the 78 minute after a beautiful assist from Richarlison.

Everton played a 4-4-2 formation, in which Iwobi was deployed on the left flank with Van de Beek and Allan controlling the central midfield, while Anthony Gordon who scored the third goal and provided assist for the second goal, played in the right flank.

Though Alex Iwobi did not score in this match, he however, managed 4 shots with zero on target. He was issued a yellow card in the 74 minute after a foul on Koch.

The former Arsenal winger played the full 90 minutes to help the Toffees sealed the win. Lampard hails his performance after the match and wants him to believe in himself more.

“Alex demanded a place in the team with his performance, and he just needs to believe in himself. I certainly believe in him.” Lampard told the media after the match.

This is the first premier league win for Lampard as Everton boss. This win will help ease the relegation worries.
