Al Hilal star Ighalo wins first ever league title in Saudi Arabia
Odion Ighalo has finished the 2021-22 Saudi Professional League season as the top scorer after scoring 24 goals in 31 matches which helped Al Hilal win the league.
Ighalo scored two goals on Monday night as Al Hilal defeated Al Faisaly 2-1 to win the Saudi top-flight title.
The Super Eagles striker opened the scoring in the seventh minute and later doubled the lead, after another assist from Michael in the 64th minute.
He was later replaced in the 80th minute by Mali’s Moussa Marega while Brazil star Clayson grabbed a consolation goal for the visitors.
Al Hilal ended their league campaign with 67 points after 30 games – a two-point lead above second-placed Al Ittihad.
The triumph was Ighalo’s first league title in his 17-year career, and his most recent club success since he won the Chinese FA Cup with Shanghai Shenhua in 2019.
The 33-year-old joined Al Hilal from rivals Al Shabab in January, and he equalled the goals he scored for the former (12 goals) within six months.
