AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Sierra Leone camp bubbles with foreign players ahead of Nigeria clash
Five foreign-based players have arrived Sierra Leone camp in Guinea ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau next week.
The quintet who joined the home-based players in John Keister’s set-up include Bolton Wanderers striker Amadou Bakayoko, Crotone forward Augustus Kargbo, Hapoel Haifa’s Kwame Quee, China-based Mohamed Buya Turay and John Kamara.
Meanwhile, the Leone Stars are still expecting 12 players in their 25-man squad including captain Steven Caulker ahead of their Group A opening fixture against the Super Eagles in Abuja on June 9.
After the trip to Nigeria next Thursday, Sierra Leone are scheduled to face Guinea-Bissau at the General Lansana Conte Stadium on June 13.
Earlier this year, Sierra Leone featured at AFCON 2021 in Cameroon but they failed to make it past the group stage.
