Burkina Faso’s Gustavo Sangaré entered into the African football history, after scoring the first goal of the 2021 African cup of nations. However, the Stallions eventually lost to Cameroon after the hosts come from behind to win the match through Aboubakar double.

The first goal of the tournament was scored through Quevilly-Rouen’s Gustavo Fabrice Sangaré at the Olembe stadium. He plays as a midfielder for both the club and the Burkina Faso national team.

The goal came in the 24th minute after Andre Onana quickly left his line to clear a cross. Aston Villa’s Bertrand Traore  delivered a cross into the 18-yard box, but Onana left his line quickly to clear the ball, but failed and the ball fell on Sangare’s feet who slot the ball into the back of the net.

However, the Indomitable Lions fights back and scored two penalties in the space of 8 minutes (40 mins and 45+3 mins) through Aboubakar.

The stallions will aim to bounce back from the loss in order to stand a chance to qualify to the next round. Burkina Faso will square up against Cape Verde on January 13.

This is a match Burkina Faso must not loose to stand a chance to qualify to the next round.
