Senegal coach has warned that his side must not get carried away when they face the Stallions in the last four.

Senegal coach, Aliou Cisse, has fired a warning to his team ahead of their semi-final clash against the Stallions on February 2, 2022. The coach warned that the Teranga Lions must not lose focus when they square up against the Stallions in the last four on February 2 2022.

Senegal defeated the Nzalang Nacional 3-1 at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon on Sunday to progress to the semifinals in two consecutive times.

Famara Diedhiou, Cheikhou Kouyate, and Ismaila Sarr were on the score sheet for the West African giants, while Jannick Buyla scored the only goal for Equatorial Guinea. The goal was picked as the best goal for the day by CAF.

The 2002 AFCON silver medalist praised his team for their victory against the Central Africa country, but warned they cannot afford to lose focus ahead of their semifinal showdown with Burkina Faso.

Burkina Faso reached the semifinals of the tournament for the fourth time in their history at AFCON after defeating Tunisia 1-0. The third time they will defeat the Carthage Eagles to reach the last four.

Aliou Cisse while speaking after their victory on Sunday congratulated Equatorial Guinea for “technically creating problem for them.” Cisse was likewise happy about his team performance, but charged them not to drop their guard when they face Burkina Faso.

“We played a hard-fought game against a good Equatorial Guinean team, we had the mentality to score three goals, we must congratulate the opposing team who were technically capable of creating problems for us,” Cisse said after the match as quoted by CafOnline.

“We must remember a good victory tonight [Sunday], synonymous with qualifying for the semi-finals. We have had a very difficult start to our preparations, but we worked well afterwards and today we are gaining momentum.

“We must not get carried away because against Burkina Faso, it will be a big battle.”
