AFCON 2021: “Salah does not impress me” – Vincent Aboubakar
The Liverpool forward is considered one of the best players in the world, but the Cameroonian forward does not think he is one of the best in the world ahead of Cameroon semi-final clash with Egypt.
Cameroon battle it out with Egypt later today for a place in the final of AFCON 2021.
Cameroon striker, Vincent Aboubakar who has scored 6 goals so far in the tournament speaks ahead of the semifinal clash that Egypt’s forward, Mo Salah does not impress him much despite netting 16 goals with 9 assists in 20 appearances for Liverpool in the premier league.
He however admitted that he is a good player, but not on the same level as Kylian Mbappe.
“I see him as he was before,”. “He’s having a great season in the Premier League, helping his country to advance in this tournament (AFCON). I wish him a lot of luck. May the best man win! Aboubakar told RFI
“I’m not very impressed with him. I say it clearly because I am an honest person and I have my own way of seeing things. If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much.
“He’s a good player, he scores a lot but he doesn’t produce a lot of stuff in the game. Of course he does good things in the Premier League because he’s been in a team for years.
“He is a good player but not at the level of someone like Mbappe.”
Aboubakar meets Mo Salah later today in a heavy weight semi-final clash. The last time they met was in Gabon 2017.
The 30-year old was the star player in that game, scoring the winning goal for the Indomitable Lions in the 88 minute.
The Cameroon skipper is in a good position to win the AFCON 2021 golden boot with 6 goals.
Salah has only scored two goals in five matches for the Pharaohs. He will be aiming to extend it when Egypt lock horns with Cameroon later today, 20.00 at the Paul Biya Stadium, Olembe.
