AFCON 2021: Mauritania, the only loser of Group F

Though, Tunisia lost their final group phase fixture to the debutant, Gambia, they advance to the knockouts through third place qualification and they would square up with Nigeria in the round of 16.
The games between Mali and Mauritania; Gambia and Tunisia round up the group phase fixtures of AFCON 2021.
Mali defeated Mauritania, 2-0, to top Group F on goal difference.
Abile Jallow scored the only goal in the match between Gambia and Tunisia in the die minute, to put Gambia in the second position.
Tunisia finish third in Group F with three points.
With no other team in third position that has four points asides Cape Verde and Malawi, Tunisia qualifies to the knockout stages.
Mauritania is the only loser of Group F, without a single point. They were defeated by other teams in the Group – Gambia, Tunisia and Mali.
The horrible record of Mauritania at AFCON continues! They crash out of the tournament again in 2021 without scoring a goal since the 1-4 against Mali in 2019, and they are still yet to win a game at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Tunisia will square up against the Super Eagles on January 23 in the round of 16.
Gambia, the debutant who finished second in Group F will battle it out with Guinea on January 24 as they seek to secure a spot in the quarterfinals in their first appearance at AFCON.
Mali, the leader of Group F will play Equatorial Guinea in the round of 16 on January 26.
