AFCON 2021: COVID-19 outbreak hits Comoros team ahead of round of 16 tie

The tournament debutants, Comoros are now faced with a huge challenge to deal with as their squad has been impacted by a substantial outbreak of COVID-19 cases. A total of 12 players including the team’s head coach have been reported in their camp as having tested positive for the virus according to their country’s football federation.

Comoros also having real issues with their goalkeeping as first choice goalie Salim Ben Boina is already out injured and now their two remaining fit stoppers are being forced to isolate.

It’s been a dream run so far for Comoros who qualified for the last 16 against all the odds after they stunned the continent by winning against Ghana on Tuesday.

The tournament debutants are set to face Cameroon in their biggest match ever in the context of their history and they need to get some sort of team together to face the hosts on Monday.
