Generally, Burkina Faso has been impressive in this competition, finishing second place in Group A behind Cameroon- the group leaders. The Stallions defeated Gabon on penalties before beating one of AFCON favorites, Tunisia 1-0.

Their dream of reaching the final and winning the title for the first time was crushed by Senegal after their disappointing loss yesterday.

The Burkina Faso skipper, speaking to the media after the game, called the loss a disappointing result, but they will try to win the third place. And after the competition they will go back to work and comeback stronger next time.

“It was a disappointing result for us, we want to get through to the finals. We expect this kind of Scenario. We know it will be a tough game at this point of the competition. If you make a small mistake, you pay in cash. Traore told the media.

“We didn’t start well in the first-half. They took the lead, we tried to comeback they scored the second, we pulled one back, they scored the third. That makes the game even more difficult for us.

“Of course, we are really down, there is a chance to get the third place in this competition. We will try to stick with each other and keep our heads up and try to get the third place.”

Burkina Faso is yet to win the AFCON title. They came close in 2013 when they lost 1-0 to Nigeria in the final.

“The country was hoping for us to get through to the finals and hopefully win the first African title. Traore Said

“Unfortunately, we didn’t make it tonight, We are really down for ourselves, the family but yet we will keep our heads up and try to bring the third place for the for the country and then we will go back to work and try to comeback stronger next time.”
